About Stephanie

Stephanie, with her husband Walter “Chip” and their children, Ashlee and Walter III
I grew up in Morehead City, NC, an "East Coast Girl", and came to Charlotte after receiving a Women's Basketball Scholarship to the University of North Carolina Charlotte (Go 49ers!).
After graduation I began my career in the airport industry, at the Charlotte Douglas International airport, and the former Little Rock National Airport, now Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport. I became one of the youngest African American females in the country running airports.
My career serving as an executive in the business, non-profit sectors, civic organizations and as an ordained clergy in the United Methodist Church, has equipped me to lead innovatively and effectively.
Presently, I serve on two boards and commissions with the city.
Charlotte Business Inclusion Advisory Committee and The
Source of Income Ad Hoc Advisory Committee. I am also an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., for over 21 years.
My husband Walter "Chip" Hand Jr.,a native Charlottean,
and I have two college young adults, Ashlee and Walter III.
We have lived in District 6 for over two decades in South Charlotte. My family and I have engaged with our community in leadership, through coaching sports, creating Pop-Up vaccination clinics, food banks and engagement with philentropic, business, civic and faith communities, to meet the needs and celebrate our communities.
It is a privilege to serve my community and city. Public service is a part of my families' legacy and the hope of our America.
Yes, I remain committed to serving
"together, working HAND in Hand for a better Charlotte."
